Ser Aron Santagar was a knight of House Santagar who served as master-at-arms at the Red Keep; his kinship to Ser Symon Santagar, the Knight of Spottswood, is unknown. Ser Rodrik Cassel judged him a vain but honest man. In A Game of Thrones he was questioned by Cassel about the Valyrian steel dagger borne by the catspaw who tried to kill Bran Stark, and he rode in the Hand's tourney, drawing thrice with Lothor Brune before falling to Lord Jason Mallister. In A Clash of Kings he bore King Joffrey I Baratheon's banner with Ser Balon Swann at Princess Myrcella's departure for Dorne; when the bread riots of King's Landing broke out, the smallfolk pulled him from his saddle and crushed his head within his helm, and Sandor Clegane came too late to save him.
